Auggie Anderson (Hans) Auggie is an SPCPA student and had been acting for 5 years. Notable productions include Grease, Elf, JosephATDC, Suessicle, Floyd Collins and Shrek. He plays Hans and is incredibly excited to be a part of YAI’s Frozen Jr.

Greta Anderson (Snow Chorus)  is 11 years old and attends Randolph Heights Elementary School. She loves to sing and play a variety of instruments including trumpet, ukulele, guitar, drums and piano. This is her debut performance with YAI and she is excited to be a part of Frozen Jr.

Ella Appelbaum (Anna) is a sophomore at Henry Sibley High School. She loves to dance, sing, and perform for others!! This is her first show with YAI and she is super hyped to be part of it. 

Aisling Baker (Townsperson #5) is 11 years old and homeschooled. She is from St. Paul and has always loved acting. This is her first theatrical performance. Her favorite movie is Frozen, so she is excited to be part of this production. Aisling wants to thank her parents and her sister for their support.

Lily Blando (Snow Chorus/Summer Chorus/Dance Captain) is a senior in high school. She has performed at Rosetown Playhouse (Newsies), Stages Theatre (Nightingale, The Velveteen Rabbit), Chesterton Academy (The Trial of John Vianney, Unconventional), Open Window Theatre (The Pilgrim’s Progress, Snow White, The Magician’s Nephew), and Youth Dance Ensemble (Nutcracker). This is Lily’s first YAI production and she is filled with gratitude to be here.

Haley Coleman (Hidden Folk/ Townsperson) is currently a freshman at SPCPA, and is enjoying every minute of it. They have been in 8 summer plays with their grade school. This is their second musical with YAI and it has been a wonderful experience that they hope to continue in the future. 

Anja Denger (Townsperson/ Oaken Family) is performing her 2nd show at YAI. She is 15 and a sophomore at Upper Mississippi academy. She is so excited to work with YAI again playing in the Ensemble. Her first show here at YAI was in High School Musical playing the role of the dorky, yet smooth talking and articulate Jack Scott, the East High PA announcer. She has a history of theater roles big and small and it is a pleasure to continue this production of Frozen Jr. at YAI. In her spare time, she likes to make art like drawings and paintings, write short stories, and (sometimes but not a lot) read.

Avery Erb (Dance Captain) Middle Anna, Hidden Folk, Snow Chorus, Dance Captain – Avery is 14 years old and an 8th grader at Open World Learning Community. She loves performing both on and off stage, and has acted in summer camps at Youth Performance Company and Steppingstone. She is a gymnast at Sokol MN and has performed as a trapeze artist with Circus Juventas. Avery played an Orphan in YAI’s production of Annie and was also in the cast of YAI’s Mulan and High School Musical. This is her 4th YAI production and she is so excited to be a part of Frozen Jr.!

Emiliano Espinosa (Townsperson/ Oaken Family) This is Emiliano’s first show at YAI and he plays the role of a townsperson and an oaken family member. He is a 5th grader at Little Canada elementary school. He enjoys playing soccer, practicing taekwondo, and being his goofy self. He’d like to thank his mom for convincing him to be in this production. Hope you enjoy the show!

Marie Finch-Koinuma (Queen/ Housekeeper) is a tenth-grader and is very excited to be in her first YAI show!  She has been in several shows this year — including Music Man with the Lake Harriet Players and Secret Garden with Highland Park Community Theatre, as well as co-writing and co-directing an original play, Torn Apart.  When not in theatre, Marie can be found singing, dancing, hairstyling, baking, sewing or hanging out with friends.  She would like to thank her family for their support and everyone involved for their hard work. She thanks you all for coming and hopes you enjoy the show!

Elise Gross (Bulda/ Handmaiden) is a freshman at Nova Classical Academy and this is her second show at YAI. She was in High School Musical previously. She has been dancing for seven years and is so excited to be able to dance and sing in this show! She would like to thank her parents and brothers for supporting her always.

Adam Hartmann (Kristoff) is a senior at Lakeville South Highschool. He has always wanted to be involved in theater and began soon after moving to the US with some school productions such as The Little Mermaid. This is his first YAI production and is very excited to be a part of the team.

Malia Haugen (Young Anna/ Hidden Folk) Malia plays Young Anna and is a 3rd grader at global arts plus. She was in Suessical last summer at YAI and had a lot of fun. She loves to dance, make slime, and hanging out with her friends. Malia would like to thank her awesome sister Tabby for being supportive and encouraging her to do theater. 

Cece Hawks (Snow Chorus/ Cook) Cece is a 9th grader at como high school. She plays a member snow chorus and is the cook. Her favorite part about theater is building a community with her cast. Cece loves to read, draw, and play flute. She’d like to thank her parents for letting her do theater.  

Elena Holcomb (Townsperson) is in 4th grade at Community of Saints in West Saint Paul. She likes swimming, Roblox, and her dog. Her favorite food is guacamole. This is her first play.

Maxwell Juvland (King/ Summer Chorus) King Agnarr is a Junior at Open World Learning Community. He has been with YAI for 3 and a half years, also starring in Shrek Jr, Mulan Jr, and Seussical. He enjoys History, Music, and ludicrous amounts of Cheesecake. He hopes you enjoy the show and thanks his family and friends for their continuous support in his theatrical endeavors.

Jeffery Keenan Jr. (Oaken Family/Castle Butler) is a 10 year old bilingual in Spanish and he attends Adams Spanish Immersion School. Jeffrey has been dancing since the age of two and competed in tap, jazz, hip hop and ballet from age five to nine. He decided at age nine to pursue his dream of being in musicals and has been studying at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts at the children’s theater for the last year and a half developing his singing and acting skills and was in his first one hour production Lyle the Crocodile Summer 2019. He also spent Summer of 2019 at Songs of Hope camp singing with 100 plus children from all over the world for two months. This is Jeffrey’s first YAI production and he is very excited to be part of it and has enjoyed making new friends with the cast and crew! 

Juniper Krings (Guard/ Oaken Family) Frozen Jr is Juniper’s 5th show at YAI. she plays a guard and an oaken family member. Juniper is a 5th grader four seasons elementary. She loves to read, bike, and play with her dog. She’s like to thank her mom for letting her come to YAI. She is very grateful for an awesome theater experience.

Keira Lindsay (Young Elsa) is an 11-year-old and attends school at Laura Jeffrey Academy in Saint Paul.  In her spare time, she likes to play ukulele, sing and act! She has been in YAI’s “Mulan Jr.” and “High School Musical,” and is so excited to be in another show at YAI!  She would like to thank her parents for driving her to rehearsals and shows.

Andres Mork (Duke of Weselton) is 15 years old and attends Humboldt High School. He is very excited to be a part of Frozen Jr. this winter! This is his second production with YAI. He has very much enjoyed meeting new people and working with his sisters in the cast. Anders hopes you love the show. 

Neenah Mork (Townsperson/Guard) is 12 years old and attends Humboldt Middle School. She has always wanted to be an actress, and has been in several productions before. Neenah also loves to play the piano and percussion. This is her first YAI production and she hopes you enjoy the show.

Violet Mork (Townsperson) is 10 years old and attends Sejong Academy. This is violet’s first YAI production and she is very excited to be in Frozen. Violet enjoys doing gymnastics, art, watching movies, and playing with her friends and family. Violet has previously been in a school musical and a Korean story telling club.

Maggie Narveson (Townsperson/ Hidden Folk) – Maggie is a 7th grader at Nova Classical Academy. She plays a townsperson/hidden folk. She enjoys reading, being with friends, and generally being a strange child. Maggie was in YAI’s production of Suessical last summer. And she’d like her parents for always supporting me and my friends putting up with me.

Clara Nerbonne (Olaf) 

Katy Olsen (Middle Elsa/ Hidden Folk)- Katy is in 7th grade at Avalon School in St. Paul. In the summer she was in Suessical the Musical as a bird girl. She thanks her mom and grandma for helping her with lines/dance and YAI for being so welcoming!

Raven Richardson (Pabbie/ Oaken Family) 

Brecken Styles (Elsa) is a junior at Osceola High School and is thankful to have performed with  Festival Theatre, the Art Barn, OHS Drama Club and Merrill Theatre. She wants to emphasize her gratitude for the talented cast, crew and creative team of Frozen Jr. When Brecken isn’t onstage she can be found gardening, sewing or reading. Special thanks to Becky and Shaw Styles for being her Sonnet 29. 

Adajia Torres-McClain (Sven) is 17 years old and loves to do shows with YAI. This is her 8th show with them. YAI has positively changed Adajia. When she started out she was shy and quiet. Now she loves doing shows and is outgoing. She enjoys doing shows. She is so I excited to do Frozen Jr. She plays Sven and she is so excited to play him. Adajia would like to thank everyone for helping her through the process ever since she started. Adajia always has a blast. Adajia was last seen in Seussical as Vlad. Adajia hopes to do more showers in the future with YAI. 

Cameron Walker (Oaken/ Bishop) Hoo-Hoo! This is the first musical he has ever been in, though he has been in a school production of Macbeth. He likes like theater because it allows him to be in the shoes of a character and tell a story. He is happy to be playing Oaken because he was his favorite character in the movie. His song Hygge very quickly became his favorite! 

Emily Walker (Winter/Summer Chorus) is in 8th grade at Twin Cities Academy.  This is her 3rd YAI production and 11th overall, and while she has enjoyed them all, James and the Giant Peach has been her favorite.  When Emily is not acting, she enjoys playing music and painting. She hopes you enjoy the show!


Matt Berdahl (Artistic Director) is a Minnesota-born and raised theatre professional who has performed, directed, and traveled the country working with various theaters connected with many strong communities, including musical theatre, Shakespeare, National Touring Children’s Theatre, commercial work, and various other professional mediums. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the Minnesota State University, Moorhead, Matt launched his career as an actor, performing with some of the Twin Cities theater’s staple directors and theater companies with strong ties to their respective communities. Following a stint in Michigan, Matt made his career move back to the Twin Cities to focus on directing for youth as his primary task. He artistically participated in YAI productions: Seussical: The Musical (Director), Mary Poppins (Director) and Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Director), and Shrek Jr (Sound Designer). Matt was selected to be YAI’s Artistic Director in 2017, bringing his professional journey full circle: sharing the positive world of theater with Twin Cities youth and working to grow our great YAI community.

Clara Kennedy (Director) is from a small town in Wisconsin where she grew up singing, dancing and acting in her local children’s theatres and dance studio. In college, she studied acting and dance and moved to Chicago right after graduation. There, she worked and lived as an actor before making the move to Minneapolis this past June after getting signed with a modeling and talent agency. Her credits include: “Elaine” Arsenic and Old Lace (The Theatre Lab Chicago), “Bunny” Feed Your Head (Sparkle Theatricals St. Paul) and “Helena” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Classical Actors Ensemble-Minneapolis) Acting is her first love, but she has a strong passion for working with kids and she’s very excited for YAI’s production of Frozen Jr. Special thanks to her friends Barry, Sarah, and Alex for all the support since moving to the Twin Cities. Tabitha Haugen (Assistant Director / Intern) is currently studying theater at the Saint Paul Conservatory for the Performing Artists. She has been in around 10 YAI shows and she is a very big supporter in the community. Tabby works as an entertainer at Nickelodeon Universe. When she isn’t playing Dora or Spongebob, she enjoys expressing herself through her theater classes at school, and putting together outfits from the goodwill pound. She would like to thank Matt Berdahl for giving her the role as assistant director in this production. Na Na Na hey Na Yaaaa Na EE a ahh, enjoy the show!

Wendy Unger (Stage Manager) is a Stage Manager, Designer, and Theatrical Technician from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota Morris with a BA in Theatre Arts. Some of her recent stage management work includes Much Ado About Nothing and Unrehearsed: Macbeth with North Dakota Shakespeare, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at the University of Minnesota Morris, Stage Management Advisor on Anything Goes at Seoul Foreign School in Seoul, South Korea, and a stage management internship at the Guthrie Theater on Native Gardens. This is her third production stage managing with YAI, the first of which being Mulan Jr., followed by Seussical the Musical. She is very glad to be back working with the wonderful YAI community!   

Kaylee Sitz (Assistant Stage Manager / Intern) is excited to be part of her second YAI show! You may recognize her as Ms. Darbus from High School Musical. She has been involved in many other shows over the years including Chicago, Little Mermaid, Newsies, and Beauty and the Beast. Kaylee has also been dancing for over 15 years with Stage Left Dance Co. She is currently in her second year at Inver Hills Community College with a major in Elementary Education. Enjoy the show!! 

Lara Moll (Choreographer) is returning for her second show at YAI after choreographing Seussical this past summer. Native to the Twin Cities, her passion includes directing, choreographing, technical theatre and performing. She is a graduate from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN with a double majoring in Theatre Art and Communication Studies. Lara is attending Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN to obtain her M.A in Children, Youth and Family Ministry while continuing to work in theatre. 

Seth Bovis (Music Director) – Seth graduated magna cum laude from The University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and has been working with YAI since 2017. Seth is the vocal music director at Highland Park Senior High School where he also conducts the pit orchestra for the Thespian Society. This year, Seth and his students have already performed at the world famous Carnegie Hall and are looking forward to their production of Into the Woods and singing at The Ordway this spring.  

Timothy M. Payton (Set Designer) is excited to be doing his fifth Y.A.I. production! He has been building and designing sets for numerous theater companies over twenty five year theater career. He is currently the Technical Director for Saint Paul Central High School. He has designed and built around 50 sets over his career. He is a graduate of Concordia University, with a Theater Arts Degree.

CJ Mantel (Costume Designer) has previously worked with YAI on Annie and Mulan. She has worked locally with Fearless Comedy Productions, Rogues Gallery Arts, The Chameleon Theatre Circle, Fortune’s Fool Theater, the Historic Mounds Theater, and Cromulent Shakespeare company. CJ also makes the occasional puppet, and rather a lot of chainmail for a 21st century resident.

Terri Ristow (Props Designer) is excited to return to YAI for Frozen!  Previous YAI productions include Seussical, Mulan Jr, Annie, Shrek Jr, and Mary Poppins.  Terri has designed props and art installations for many local theatres and events including Park Square Theatre, Wayward Theatre, Lakeshore Players Theatre, Chameleon Theatre, Fortune’s Fool Theatre, Dangerous Productions (Twin Cities Horror Festival), Theatre in the Round, The Soap Factory Haunted Basement, Fright Farm, and Art in Bloom at Mia. Terri’s upcoming projects include 39 Steps with Wayward Theatre at the Minnesota Transportation Museum, and Wait Until Dark with Lakeshore Players.

Brian Mitchell (Lighting Designer) is excited to return to YAI as Lightning Designer. His prior YAI production was Annie. Brian began doing technical theatre at Linwood A+ Elementary in Saint Paul, MN when he joined the “Tech Team” in the fourth grade. He is happy to play a part in providing a place for kids to do theater. As a student at the University of Minnesota Morris, he worked as an electrician, programmer, and lighting designer for many theatrical productions, dance shows, and other live events. By day Brian is a software engineer, but is so happy to have an opportunity to continue doing theatre!

Ian R Buck (Sound Designer) is a local podcaster and teacher focused on computer tech. He acted in several YAI productions as a youth, and now as an adult he is having a blast doing sound design!
